I’m Elizabeth Davis, founder of Herd & Heart, and I believe that even in the face of life’s deepest challenges, we each have the capacity to live a life of purpose, healing, and meaning.
My own journey of healing from trauma has shaped the way I show up for others—not just with clinical knowledge, but with lived experience and genuine empathy. Over the years, I’ve worked closely with both people and animals, growing in relationship with nature, and training in trauma-informed practices that create space for restoration and reconnection.
Today, I serve as a Counselor, Mentor, and Board-Certified Mental Health Life Coach, with specialized certifications in Narrative-Focused Trauma Care, Betrayal Trauma, Spiritual Abuse, PTSD, and Complex PTSD. I’m also a certified Equine-Assisted Learning Facilitator, weaving the wisdom of animals into the healing journey.
Whether working with individuals or guiding group sessions, I meet my clients with care, curiosity, and compassion. As a lifelong lover of wildlife and a believer in the sacred connection between humans and nature, it’s my greatest joy to merge these passions in my work. Helping others feel seen, supported, and gently empowered to heal is not just what I do—it’s who I am.
Throughout history, horses have shown to be companions to humans in folklore, mythology, and the real life we exist in. They have proven themselves to be an integral part of human thriving for millennia, and we still are uncovering mysteries about their deeply intuitive and energetic nature. Their heightened use of sensory awareness and ability to use body language to convey inner consciousness is a powerful medicine for the traumatized or aching human soul. What we cannot hold for one another as human beings, horses often can. Horses require our presence and tell us the truth about ourselves. Their ability to guide us into a more embodied experience is unparalleled based on their higher vibrational energy, and are remarkably kind witnesses to the places we feel most uncomfortable.
When we are ready to acknowledge what we are holding on to, to confront the thinking that no longer helps us, and shed the untruths that have dealt with us for far too long; the horse is there to reveal a deeper path that we cannot ignore. You will shift, grow, change and viscerally align when healing in the presence of horses.
Herd & Heart sessions are nature based, equine assisted healing journies that promotes the growth and flourishing of human hearts. Using the beautiful scenery of creation and the harnessing the powerful presence of the herd, I work with my clients to align themselves back to their true, authentic nature. Individual sessions begin with a consensual choosing of your healing guide and the horse who you journey with will be at liberty during sessions. All sessions are led on the ground, no riding will be involved. The horse does not hold an agenda for you, they simply respond to your energy; the electromagnetic field projected by a horse is five times larger than a human heart can project. You will be held in a space of allowing the horse to guide you back to inner congruence while I facilitate heart opening questions for you. My clients often report feelings of empowerment, decreased stress levels, powerful breakthroughs, peace, and a general sense of knowing themselves deeper. We don't have to wear masks here, this is where we can be wild and free.
Herd and Heart Group Sessions will be topic based and typically focused on an experiential path to learning more about social, emotional, and life skills. Self discovery oriented activities help to enhance social competencies and reduce stress among participants of all ages. No horse experience required, we will safely learn and refine your personal experience in a way that is compatible for you, the herd, and myself. This is new way to expeience horses, one that will expand your heart for the remainder of your journey!
